Superb pillow especially for those with neck problems!, October 25, 2011 Amazon Verified Purchase This review is from: Z by Malouf 100% Natural Shredded Talalay Latex Pillow with Bamboo Cover, King Chasing after a good night's sleep has become somewhat of a slight obsession especially after developing arthritis in my neck. The right pillow makes all the difference. Over the years I've purchased just about every pillow known to mankind - many which were very expensive; hand-stuffed down pillows from Cuddledown, memory foam (ugh the heat!), buckwheat (puffy face - allergy prone), spun gel (like trying to sleep on a sponge)...you name it, I've tried them.
I've also tried different shapes, sizes and sleeping positions. The bottom line is that it's not easy to find a great pillow. Until Z by Malouf! Over a year ago I purchased four of their formed talalay pillows - the odor was a bit overwhelming at first but once aired out, they provided a superb level of support combined with comfort. They have held up well and perform perfectly but I actually prefer the shredded talalay for the ability to position it "just right".

Well, maybe three words.. PLUSH PLUSH PLUSH! From the shredded talalay latex innards to the luscious bamboo cover. So comfy. First time I slept on this pillow, I don't even remember falling asleep! Dead serious. I woke up the next morning wondering if the aliens left their probe up my unmentionables. While I don't get sleep like that every night, it's still pretty great. Hope it holds up over time, but I'm very satisfied so far.
I also ordered the talalay latex and gelled microfiber pillow from the same manufacturer and while it's nice I definitely prefer the full shredded talalay latex pillow.

Rather, I learned the hard way over time by getting pillows I hated. Other than the Malouf type, I really like buckwheat-filled pillows.
I like both the Malouf and also buckwheat pillows for being cool and not making me sweat. Both of these types allow air circulation.
The Malouf pillow has some give but not too much. It holds up pretty well and feels good structurally and against the skin. Buckwheat pillows are the best, I think, for forming the shape you want to support your head perfectly for your position while sleeping. But the buckwheat hulls inside pillows grind down into progressively smaller pieces as they rub against each other, and this happens over only a about a year. Some buckwheat pillows are sealed so that you can't open them to add new buckwheat hulls to restore volume.
Because of the above reason, I eventually lost some satisfaction with buckwheat pillows. That's what drove me to try... Read more
